How much does the Everest Base Camp trek cost?

From US$1,419 with us. That is the guide price we quoted in 2023 for a 16-day trek, and our notes from that year put meals on the trek, lodges, the national park permit, a guide and porters in it.

Prices move with the season and the size of your group, so take it as the starting point. Your quote gives this season’s figure for your dates, and the table below has every other cost we know of, down to the permits for the Khumbu (the Everest region).

What changes the price of your trek

Four things: the size of your group, your dates, whether you travel privately or join a group, and how many days you take. If you are working to a budget, tell us the figure and we will plan around it.

Days
A typical plan runs 12 days from Kathmandu and back, and guidebooks give 12 to 14. Our 2023 price was for 16 days, with two nights in a Kathmandu hotel and a sightseeing day in the city.
The flight to Lukla
In busy seasons most Lukla flights leave from Manthali, a drive of 4 to 6 hours from Kathmandu that usually starts before dawn. Ask us which airport your dates use.
A spare day
Lukla flights only run in daylight and good weather, and they are often a day or more late. Extra costs from delays were not in the 2023 price, so keep a day in your budget for them.
Travelling from India
Citizens of SAARC countries pay less for the permits: NPR 3,500 for both, against NPR 6,000 for other foreign visitors.
