Snow in winter, rain in the monsoon

From mid November, snow and ice can cover the trail above Deurali (3,200 m), and in winter the stretch between Deurali and Machhapuchhre Base Camp (3,700 m) crosses avalanche paths. The rural municipality and district administrations close the Annapurna Base Camp trail after heavy snowfall.

In winter, light slip-on spikes for your boots (microspikes) help on the icy sections. From June to September the monsoon brings heavy rain, and leeches on the lower trail. If those are your weeks, ask us about the trail before you book.
